Because of my failing eyesight, I tried to make it simple. The case consists of two L-shaped sheet steel clam shells, and square wood ends. The metal was cut from the cover of an obsolete PC, complete with the bend in the middle. The enamel proved to be very durable; no repainting was necessary. All of the visible components are fastened to one of these sheets. The shape minimises the footprint, because of limited shelf space where it is used. A thin wood sheet fits into slots in the end pieces. This supports the battery and the main circuit board, which is secured by a single screw. This assembly slides out of the slots to provide access to the upper components. There are two groups of components fastened to the panel: |
